Retraction |
An extract of the first 100% of the full text is provided, because this article has no abstract. |
To the Editor:
I am writing you because we noted some errors in Figure 3 of our article entitled "The Balance Between PGD Synthase and PGE Synthase Is a Major Determinant of Atherosclerotic Plaque Instability in Humans" and published on your journal (Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2004;24:1259–1265). In detail, Western blots for ikB
and PPAR
showed in this figure were performed by stripping and reprobing of the same filter. However, as these 2 mediators have a similar molecular weight (the molecular weight for ikB
in the Figure was mistakenly reported as 70 kDa instead of 46 kDa), we cannot exclude that the band labeled as PPAR
may in fact represent ikB
. Although we also presented data showing a difference in PPAR
activity, we believe that the abnormalities in Figure 3 dictate that the appropriate response is to retract this article.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
