Figure I. Photomicrographs showing the deposition of vWF and fibrin(ogen) in the carotid arteries after balloon injury (immunohistochemical stain, bar=50 μm). In the normal carotid arteries, endothelial cells showed a weak staining for vWF (A), but not for fibrin(ogen) (B). On day 14, modest neointima was observed and this area showed a dense immunoreactivity for vWF (C), but not fibrin(ogen) (D).
