The entire publication process for Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, from manuscript submission through editorial review to online publication, can now be accomplished electronically.
The Editorial Office is using a Web-based manuscript tracking system that provides authors with the option of submitting manuscripts electronically via our website (www.atvb.org). This system also gives reviewers and editors the option to receive and evaluate manuscripts online, and it facilitates rapid communication of editorial decisions to authors. Online review is quickly becoming the preferred method of manuscript evaluation by many of our reviewers.
In November 1999, we began publishing supplementary information, such as Methods and additional figures and tables, as ATVB Electronic Pages. This feature has proven to be popular with authors, and it will be used increasingly in the future.
Authors of most manuscripts are now offered the choice of traditional printed or online publication. We expect that online papers will be published more rapidly (at least 6 to 8 weeks earlier) than printed papers accepted on the same date. Rapid Publications can be published online within a few weeks of acceptance.
We anticipate that authors choosing to submit a manuscript electronically and publish it online will continue to see a significant decrease in time to publication. We have not discarded our mail boxes, but we are pleased to offer the option of completely electronic review and publication.
